Cardiff Rugby faced a tough challenge at Loftus Versfeld, as the Bulls stormed to a 40-7 victory in their latest United Rugby Championship clash. The Bulls dominated with tries from stars like Marcell Coetzee and Johan Grobbelaar, while Handre Pollard added precision with his kicking. Unfortunately for Cardiff, Harri Millard’s early try and Callum Sheedy’s conversion were all they could manage on the scoreboard.

Despite the heavy defeat, there were some standout individual performances. Dan Thomas was a dynamo on the field, making an impressive 40-metre break and finishing as the top tackler with 18 hits. His energy and tackle count made him Cardiff’s standout player in a difficult match. Among the forwards, Josh McNally showed resilience with his powerful carrying and solid lineout work.

On the flip side, the front row faced a brutal test with props like Rhys Barratt and Javan Sebastian struggling against the Bulls’ formidable pack. The scrums were particularly challenging, and Cardiff was often forced on the backfoot.
Replacements added a spark, with Dafydd Hughes and Taulupe Faletau injecting energy late into the game, even though the match was out of reach by then.
While this wasn’t the result Cardiff fans hoped for, there are lessons to be learned and positives to take forward. Onwards to the next battle! 💪🔵
