🚗 Big Changes Coming to Cardiff’s International Sports Village!

Exciting news for Cardiff! Plans for the much-anticipated Topgolf venue have been scrapped, but fear not, as the city’s council has a fresh new vision for the area. The disused Toys R Us site is now set to become a key part of the International Sports Village, boasting a whopping 1,000 parking spaces. 🌳

In a recent council meeting, it was revealed that this space will be developed with private sector investment. Expect to see eco-friendly features like EV charging stations, solar canopies, and even small wind turbines lighting up the area! 💡✨

Parking charges will be introduced come July 2025, as part of a wider strategy to complete the development without further borrowing. The goal? To transform the site into a vibrant, green, and open space for everyone to enjoy.
Existing local favourites like Cardiff International White Water, Cardiff Ice Arena, and Cardiff International Pool remain safe and sound. Each operates under different arrangements, ensuring continuous enjoyment for visitors. 🏊♂️⛸️
As for the Ice Arena, a marketing strategy is set to assess market interest—rest assured, the Cardiff Devils’ spot is protected through their current lease. 🏒 Meanwhile, a new approach is planned to keep our beloved International Pool sustainable for years to come.
Cllr Russell Goodway highlighted this move as crucial for gaining momentum. With innovative energy solutions and improved amenities, the International Sports Village is set to become a thriving hub for locals and tourists alike! 🏙️💪
