🕵️♀️ Public confidence in England and Wales’ law enforcement has taken a hit, according to a recent YouGov poll. Only a quarter of people think the police are doing a good job at reducing crime! 🚓💼 The study highlights several areas of concern and trust issues within the justice system:

🔍 Just over half (53%) believe major crimes would be properly investigated if reported. However, for minor crimes, that confidence drops to just 14%!

🏢 Trust in prisons isn’t much better, with less than 40% feeling secure about prisons effectively locking offenders away. Recent accidental prison releases may have something to do with this lack of confidence.

👮♂️ Visibility counts! More than a quarter (26%) of adults can’t recall the last time they saw a police officer in their community. Is it time for more bobbies on the beat?
🚨 Issues of racism and sexism within the police force are another sore point, with nearly half saying these are handled poorly.
💭 And if you could change one thing? Resources, staffing, and funding topped the wish list for improvement.
Despite the overall dip in confidence since the pandemic, a Welsh force shines through—public opinion on Dyfed-Powys Police is evenly split between positive and negative views.
