🐾 Major Update on Greyhound Racing in Wales 🐾

The bid to overturn the upcoming greyhound racing ban in Wales has officially failed after a High Court ruling. Despite efforts from the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) to challenge the decision, judges confirmed that the banning bill was introduced lawfully and followed a democratic process.

This comes after a significant Senedd vote earlier this week, with the Welsh Government announcing a transition period to help the industry adjust. GBGB criticised the decision, arguing that there wasn’t enough consultation or evidence to support the ban. CEO Mark Bird expressed his disappointment, claiming the legislative process was flawed and that the ban would negatively impact jobs, family businesses, and the Welsh economy.
Valley Greyhound Stadium, the sole regulated track in Wales located in Hengoed, has poured millions into upgrading its facilities. Supporters of the stadium emphasise the strong bond between trainers and their greyhounds, ensuring the dogs are well cared for and loved.
