🔧 Oops! Bridgend Council Slip Up! 🔧

In a surprising twist, Bridgend Council has found itself in hot water after accidentally breaking its own planning rules. How? Well, work had already begun on installing a new air source heat pump system at Bryn Y Cae Nursing Home, Brackla, before realising they needed planning permission! 😳
The plan was meant to upgrade and decarbonise the home’s heating system, but the council had to retroactively apply for approval after construction started. Local residents were caught off guard and expressed concerns over potential noise and the lack of notification.

Despite objections, and after some debate, permission was granted for the new system. Officials assured that any noise issues would be managed with an acoustic screen to keep the peace. 🏡🔇
Councillors were less than pleased about the oversight, with Cllr Jonathan Pratt speculating it could fuel conspiracy theories. They agreed to send a strongly worded letter to ensure this hiccup doesn’t happen again. ✉️😤

In the end, the new heating upgrade got the green light with amendments, passing by six votes to four. Council planning officers are expected to follow up soon with responses to the committee’s concerns.
