🌨️❄️ Winter is making an unexpected comeback in Wales this week! Get ready for a “shock to the system” as the Met Office is forecasting hail, sleet, and even snow! Just when we thought spring was here to stay, temperatures are set to take a dive, plummeting below zero in some areas by Wednesday night.

After a lovely sunny spell, the cold snap kicks in with wintry showers expected throughout Wednesday. Keep your eyes to the skies as snow graces higher grounds, potentially stacking up to 5cm on peaks like Eryri. Mid and north Wales will see the first snowflakes in the early hours of Wednesday. For those in lower areas, expect it to fall as rain.

Picture this: by 6am, a blanket of white will stretch from north Wales down to Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea, with temps sitting around 3-4°C. Though by the afternoon, the snow will become patchy, moving east and bringing chills to places like Barmouth and St Asaph.
This weather shift comes as high pressure gives way to a low from the Atlantic, turning our skies grey with persistent rain, especially heavy in the north. The colder air swooping in will feel even icier with the wind – talk about a brisk breeze!
Steven Keates from the Met Office hints at an “increasingly unsettled” UK. Brace yourself for rain, strong winds, and that chilly embrace by midweek. Daily highs will range from 6°C to 10°C, but it’ll feel much cooler, especially with wintry showers in the north. Expect widespread frost and some icy spots Wednesday night. Stay warm, Wales! 🧣🌬️
