Kerry Brown thought her hot flushes and tingling were just menopause symptoms, but the reality was far more serious. After noticing changes in her vision, she visited an optician who spotted swelling behind her eye and referred her for an MRI. The shocking results revealed not one, but ten brain tumours!

Kerry, a 54-year-old mum from Hull, initially shrugged off her symptoms as hormonal changes. However, they soon escalated—extreme fatigue, slurred speech, and vision problems led her to seek help. The MRI scan uncovered four tumours in her brain, which needed surgical removal. It was during this surgery that doctors discovered a total of ten tumours.
Despite the initial shock, Kerry has shown incredible bravery. Five tumours were removed while the rest are being monitored. Unfortunately, complications arose, leaving Kerry blind in one eye due to a tumour pressing on her optic nerve. Recently, two of the tumours began to grow again, necessitating further treatment with radiotherapy.

Kerry’s journey highlights the need for awareness around brain tumour symptoms, which can often be mistaken for more common conditions, as was the case with Kerry’s flushes being mistaken for menopause-related. She’s now on a mission, fundraising for Brain Tumour Research and raising awareness for this underfunded area. Kerry’s story reminds us of the importance of listening to our bodies and seeking medical advice when something feels off.
Kerry hopes her story will help others feel less alone and encourages support for brain tumour research, helping to prevent diagnostic delays that can prove life-changing. Her courage is truly inspiring! 🌟
Let’s support Kerry and raise awareness for brain tumour research—every share can make a difference! 💙
