Rhys Norrington-Davies is making a comeback! After a devastating hamstring injury crushed his dreams of playing for Wales in the 2022 World Cup, this dedicated defender is back in action and more determined than ever. Missing out on Qatar hasn’t sunk in for him, but it’s fuelled his drive to get back on the pitch and make a mark on the upcoming play-offs. 📣

The 26-year-old, who contributed to Wales’ first World Cup qualification since 1958, was sidelined just a month before the tournament due to a serious injury while at Sheffield United. But it’s a new dawn as Norrington-Davies has been rediscovering his form at Queens Park Rangers after moving there on loan. His return has seen him make 33 appearances this season, his highest since that injury.

Reflecting on his journey, Rhys said, “Missing the World Cup was tough. Watching from bed, I kept thinking, ‘I should be there’. It was a long road with complications and more injuries, but now it’s about playing good football and earning my spot back.” His resilience is inspiring!
Rhys acknowledges Bosnia’s challenge in the upcoming play-off semi-final, knowing every international game is tough. Yet, his focus remains sharp—he’s ready to do whatever it takes to help get Wales back on the world stage. ⚽
A special shout-out to Craig Bellamy, who offered him his first Welsh cap post-injury during a friendly against Canada, a moment Rhys cherishes deeply. “It felt even better than my debut,” he admits, showcasing how hard he has worked for this comeback.
He’s got his eyes set on regaining his position in the national team for the qualifications, and Rhys is truly embodying a spirit of perseverance and passion. Go Rhys! 🙌🏴
