Tracy Beaker fans, listen up! Dani Harmer, the beloved TV star, just opened up about her struggle with ongoing fatigue due to perimenopause. Despite her usual busy schedule, Dani, now a mum of two and a TikTok sensation with 418k followers, shared in a heartfelt video how exhausting perimenopause has been for her.

“Why does no one explain just how exhausting perimenopause is?” she ponders. Dani describes feeling wiped out after a day that only involved heading to London for a bit of recording—a stark contrast to her long days on set. She’s reaching out to others, asking, “Is it my hormone levels?”

Support poured in from other women going through the same ordeal. One suggested checking her Vitamin D levels, and another mentioned oestrogen or testosterone levels. Dani admitted she hadn’t had these levels tested in a while and was just placed on HRT without much explanation.
Perimenopause, ladies, it’s when you’re experiencing menopause symptoms but still have your periods. It can hit between 45 and 55, and sometimes earlier, so talking to your GP is crucial if symptoms hit you before 40.
What can you expect? Think changes in menstrual cycles, hot flushes, sleepless nights, and even joint pain. The hormone rollercoaster can also play havoc with your mental health, causing mood swings or even “brain fog.”
Why so tired, though? The NHS says it’s all down to your hormone levels dancing around; progesterone affects sleep and blood sugar, while oestrogen can lead to hot flushes, and low testosterone may cause a low mood. Keeping active, staying hydrated, and practising relaxation techniques might offer some relief, and there are medications that can help.
Hang in there, and remember, sharing experiences like Dani’s can help us all understand this phase of life a bit better. Have you or someone you know tackled perimenopause? Let’s support each other in the comments! 💪💬
