🐴✨ Dramatic Horse Rescue! ✨🐴
This weekend, a heroic effort saved a pregnant mare caught in a tricky situation in Pontardawe. As she found herself trapped in a hazardous bog up to her thighs, three dedicated rescue crews swung into action to free her.
The brave teams from Carmarthen, Ammanford, and Pontardawe worked tirelessly for over two hours to execute the rescue mission. Armed with an arsenal of tools including a tractor, glide sheet, strops, and even shepherd’s crooks, they embarked on a challenging operation to bring the frightened horse to safety.
Utilising a carefully laid marsh mat and several strong lines, they managed to lift the mare from her precarious position. The glide sheet attached to the tractor was pivotal in pulling her to solid ground, several metres away from the treacherous bog.
The successful rescue concluded late in the evening, with the mare safe and sound, thanks to the swift work of the rescue crews and assistance from the horse’s owner, helpful locals, and a dedicated vet.
Kudos to these everyday heroes who showcase what teamwork and perseverance can achieve! 🌟🐎
