π After an incredible 27 years as a government minister, Jane Hutt is stepping down! π Serving in the Senedd since its inception in 1999, Jane has held various key roles, shaping Welsh politics and leaving a legacy that stands with political greats like Churchill and Balfour.

From her early days as the first Health Minister to her recent roles as Chief Whip and social justice minister, Jane’s dedication and knack for getting things done have garnered admiration across the board. Elin Jones, Llywydd of the Senedd, praised Jane as a force of nature β the negotiator, the fixer, the ultimate battery charger. β‘

Hailing originally from Surrey, Jane embraced her Welsh roots, moving to Wales in 1972, becoming a social worker, and co-founding Welsh Womenβs Aid. Her political career began in local government, leading up to her historic election to the Senedd.

As Jane steps away, 13 other Labour colleagues will also not be running in the upcoming May election, signifying a new era for the Senedd. Her departure will leave a void not easily filled, but her influence will undoubtedly inspire future generations of female leaders. πͺ
