🚨 Big News from Rhondda! 🚨

Remember that massive sinkhole in Porth that had everyone talking? Well, we’ve got an update! Last month, the ground gave way, swallowing a council road sweeper and forcing residents from five homes on Aberhondda Road to evacuate.

Good news: No one was hurt, and the homes are now safe to return to after the Mining Remediation Authority stabilised the area.
After some thorough investigations, it’s been confirmed that this alarming ground collapse was caused by historical coal mining in the area. The Mining Remediation Authority is now hard at work assessing options for a permanent fix. They’ll continue to keep an eye on conditions, and they’re committed to keeping everyone safe.
A massive thank you to the local community for their patience and understanding during this time. We’ll keep you posted with further updates as work progresses.
Stay safe, and if you ever spot anything suspicious relating to old mining activities, you can report it 24/7 at 0800 288 4242. 📞
