Football legend Ian Rush has made an incredible recovery following a health scare that left him in hospital late last year. The all-time top scorer for Liverpool faced a terrifying ordeal after collapsing at home with COVID, a severe flu, and an intense asthma attack. In an emotional chat with The Telegraph, he revealed the gravity of the situation, describing the moment as feeling like he was “drowning.”

His wife, Carol, whose quick thinking likely saved his life, kept him breathing until medical help arrived. Following his recovery, Rush discovered he had been living with undiagnosed asthma. Armed with a trusty inhaler now, he’s learnt the importance of correct breathing and was even encouraged to swim more and enjoy some sunshine as part of his recovery.

Rush is set to return to Anfield for the Legends match against Borussia Dortmund, feeling much better and grateful for the support from Liverpool FC. The team arranged a restorative trip to Dubai, knowing the warmth would help speed his recovery.
Reflecting on his health scare, Rush expressed gratitude for the support he received from his wife and the club. Now, back on his feet, the Welshman, also a Liverpool ambassador, is looking forward to supporting his team from the sideline alongside former teammates and legends. Rediscovering a healthier life, Ian Rush is a testament to resilience and the power of community support.
