Exciting News for Merthyr Tydfil!

The iconic Redhouse in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil has officially found a new guardian! After being closed since 2024, this beloved arts and cultural venue is set to shine again as it returns to the hands of our local council.

In a unanimous decision this January, councillors voted to bring this historic gem back into council ownership. The council leader, Brent Carter, shared that it’s been a top priority for the community, highlighting the building’s significance and the dedication to preserving its future for everyone’s benefit.
The Redhouse, once managed by the Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association, faced challenges due to a complicated transfer process, leading to its unfortunate closure. However, the council is now delighted to announce that they’ve taken full ownership, ensuring that the Redhouse’s rich legacy will continue to inspire and entertain us all.
This move marks a fantastic step forward for both the Redhouse and our community. Stay tuned for exciting updates as the council works hard to breathe new life into this cherished venue.
