Picture this: a reckless 14-minute police chase reaching up to 98mph has taken Wrexham by storm. Kyle Holt, 26, swiftly led officers through a high-octane pursuit, even daring to drive the wrong way on a roundabout! This adrenaline-packed saga unfolded last year on October 4th and recently played out in court.

Let’s break it down. Holt, in a Ford Fiesta, was first spotted without insurance on the A483. Ignoring police signals to pull over, he floored it, initiating a high-speed game of cat and mouse. With a female passenger in tow, Holt blew through red lights, reached speeds of 55mph in a 30 zone, and executed dangerous overtakes at blind spots, as captured by police cameras. 🚦🚗💥

The pursuit sped through Ruabon, Erbistock, and Bangor-on-Dee, with authorities deploying a “stinger” to puncture his tyres at Cross Lanes. In a wild move, Holt reversed into a police car before storming off again, briefly losing control. He then boldly navigated the wrong way around a roundabout and ended up crashing into a private farm gate to make a run for it – only to be caught shortly after.

The court revealed Holt’s over-the-limit cannabis use and a history of disregarding driving bans, alongside previous convictions of arson, burglary, and drug-related driving offences. His defence acknowledged the reckless behaviour was unacceptable and noted his struggles with ADHD, autism, and a challenging upbringing. Despite suggestions of community punishment, Judge Rowlands deemed a 12-month prison sentence unavoidable, citing the “prolonged, deliberate and persistent” nature of Holt’s actions. Holt is also banned from driving for 46 months, with a requirement to pass an extended test post-ban.

A cautionary tale of how dangerous choices can lead to real consequences. 🚔⚖️

Stay safe on the roads, folks!
