🛫 Heading to Portugal, Spain, or Greece for your next holiday? Here’s something you need to know! Starting 10th April, a new system is rolling out at European airports that could lead to longer queues for British travellers. 😬

The Entry Exit System (EES) is being introduced across EU countries. If you’re traveling to the Schengen Area—which includes fabulous destinations like Portugal, Spain, Greece, and others—be prepared to give your fingerprints and have your photo snapped at border control.

No need to panic! This quick registration process is absolutely free and will replace the old passport stamping method. But, since this is all new, it’s wise to expect a bit more waiting time at the airport. 🕒
The UK’s Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office advises ensuring you’re aware of travel rules if you’re hopping over for a short stay. Just an FYI: You’ll create a digital record the first time you visit and it’ll last for three years!
Flying in? You’ll do the EES checks once you land. Travelling via Eurostar or Eurotunnel? You’ll register before you leave the UK. Remember to mind your stay limits—no more than 90 days in any 180-day period to avoid any penalties!
Friendly tip: If you’re travelling this summer, make sure to set out earlier than usual to factor in those potentially longer waits at the border.
This new system aims to up border security, helping everyone travel safer and more efficiently. Stay informed and enjoy your travels! 🌍✈️
