Heads up, drivers! 🚗💨 Brace yourselves for jam-packed roads this Thursday as nearly 22 million journeys are set to kick off the Easter getaway! With fuel prices through the roof due to the recent upheaval in the Middle East, you’d think we’d stay home. But nope, the Great Easter Escape is upon us!

The RAC predicts this will be the busiest Easter on the roads since 2022, and it looks like they might be right. Diesel prices have surged to 184.2p per litre, and petrol is averaging 153.7p. Despite these wallet-busting numbers, most people plan to keep their trips under 50 miles, mainly for visiting family and friends.

Expect major traffic hot spots around:
– The M6 through Birmingham heading towards Blackpool
– The M25 between the M23 and M40
– The M5 around Bristol and further southwest
– The A303 in Wiltshire
– The M4 in South Wales
National Highways is lending a hand by lifting 1,500 miles of roadworks to ease your journeys. For those heading to Europe, a tip from the RAC Foundation: fill up before crossing the channel—the continent’s prices are steeper!
Flying away for Easter? 🌍✈️ Be ready for potential two-hour border checks as the EU ramps up its new Entry Exit System for non-EU travellers. It’s a busy time for airlines too, with easyJet gearing up for its most hectic Easter yet, offering around 16,000 flights from UK airports!
And don’t forget, there’s rail disruption on the horizon. Network Rail is undertaking over 270 upgrade projects, including a six-day closure of the West Coast Main Line from Good Friday.
Whatever your plans, travel safe and happy Easter! 🐣🚙✈️
