⚖️ Shocking Court Case Update:

A man from Bridgend received a suspended sentence after attempting to engage in inappropriate communication with what he thought was a 12-year-old boy. Iestyn Compton, 22, disguised himself as a 19-year-old girl to contact ‘Jake’ on a messaging app. Instead of an actual child, Compton was unknowingly speaking to a decoy police officer. He asked ‘Jake’ to leave school lessons to share photos from the toilets.
The disturbing case unfolded at Newport Crown Court, revealing that a search at Compton’s home found over 1,000 indecent images of children. Officers seized numerous digital devices that contained these images, including 58 in the most severe category.

Despite being only 19 at the time of these crimes, Compton, described by his defence as having had a “broadly happy” childhood, has expressed deep remorse. He still lives with his parents and works in the family business. However, Judge Harrison wasn’t lenient with her words, stating that Compton should be “thoroughly ashamed” of his actions.
As a consequence, Compton’s sentence includes 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, alongside a sexual harm prevention order for seven years. Additionally, he’s required to complete community service and rehabilitation days. The devices used in his crimes will be destroyed.
This case highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to protect children online. It’s also a stark reminder that law enforcement is vigilant and persistent in pursuing those who attempt to exploit minors. Stay informed and vigilant. #ChildProtection #CrimeUpdate
