While on duty, Nomi allegedly allowed inappropriate physical contact from the resident, which included behaviour described as grinding. Witnesses reported that Nomi, instead of de-escalating the situation, seemed to encourage it with a ‘shimmying movement.’

Colleague Amanda Hands recounted the unsettling scene to a Social Care Wales panel, highlighting that Nomi failed to use trained techniques to manage the resident’s behaviour. Despite her absence at the hearing, Nomi had earlier dismissed the allegations as non-sexual. However, the panel concluded that her actions neglected proper care procedures and put the resident at risk. They stated her behaviour breached fundamental professional standards.

A decision was made to remove her from the care register with immediate effect, though she can re-apply in five years. This decision underlines the importance of upholding rigorous care standards to protect vulnerable individuals. Stay alert and stay informed on issues that impact our community.
