**Shocking Incident at Aberystwyth University** 📚😢

In a deeply troubling case, a student from Aberystwyth University testified in court that he woke up to find himself being raped by a fellow student. The accused, George Cleaton, 25, faces allegations of anal rape following a night of drinking in Aberystwyth back in 2023.
The court heard that the two men, both students at the university, had been out for drinks without any prior plans to meet. After visiting several spots around the town, they had decided to return to the alleged victim’s accommodation for what was meant to be a night of platonic cuddling due to the complainant feeling too intoxicated for anything more.

It is claimed that the complainant woke up to the horrifying realisation that Cleaton was on top of him, leading to immediate demands for Cleaton to leave. The prosecution highlighted a message allegedly sent by Cleaton the following day, which reportedly read: “I apologise if I took advantage of you while you were drunk last night. I was not thinking straight myself, but that doesn’t make it okay.” The prosecution argues this message serves as an apology for the alleged rape.

Cleaton was arrested two days after the incident, with him maintaining that all sexual activity that night was consensual. He admitted to having hesitations due to his relationship with a woman but insists that he and the complainant engaged in consensual activities.
This case is ongoing at Swansea Crown Court, with Cleaton firmly denying the charge of rape.
