In a dramatic twist from the world of dog grooming, Adrian Bolton, 56, attacked Julian Sandy, the owner of Woofterz Dog Grooming in Llanfyllin, Powys, outside the Best of Welsh Business Awards. Julian had just snagged the top prize in the pet services category, beating out competitors including Bolton’s wife, Tamara, who runs Paws n Relax.

Caught on CCTV, the attack unfolded in the hotel’s courtyard where Bolton delivered several blows before security intervened. In court, Bolton admitted to assault causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to 160 hours of unpaid work and ordered to compensate Julian with £2,000.

Julian, still grappling with the aftermath, shared how the attack left him in severe pain with a chipped thumb bone that could jeopardise his career. Unable to work for 12 weeks, he reportedly lost £18,000 in earnings and spent £6,000 of his savings just to get by. The injuries, including bruising to his jaw and kidney area, even left him struggling to eat for weeks.

Expressing his frustration, Julian spoke about the unfairness of the situation, noting that while he’s been fighting to recover and protect his business, his rival’s salon has been showcasing a lavish holiday in Dubai on social media. Despite the challenges, Julian remains hopeful about his future, but fears that ongoing pain could eventually force him to give up the job he loves.
