**Shocking Living Conditions in Barry: Resident Speaks Out!**

Meet Paul Horton, 67, a Barry Island resident who’s had enough of his damp and mouldy council flat. For years, Paul has battled persistent issues in his home, describing the situation as nothing short of “neglect” by the local council. When it rains, his kitchen wall turns into a flowing river, leaving his worktops flooded and slugs slithering across the tiles!

Paul’s health has taken a hit too, with chest infections and skin problems worsening due to the damp conditions. He even recalls a conversation with a tenant liaison officer who reportedly suggested the degradation might be due to the “type of people” living there. This left Paul feeling categorised and as if he was part of a “social experiment.”
Having lived in a static caravan for 12 years, Paul insists he’d prefer the caravan over his current flat, citing the lack of maintenance and respect for tenants. With a major refurbishment programme on the horizon, the council promises long-term improvements but is currently assessing the property to address immediate issues.
