Christine Lloyd’s incredible journey is one of resilience and gratitude. After a devastating car accident involving a tractor left her fighting for her life back in 2017, the 39-year-old from Chester is now preparing to take on the Chester Half Marathon. Christine’s determination to push through daily, chronic pain is fuelled by her desire to give back. She credits the Wales Air Ambulance with saving her life, saying she wouldn’t have survived without them.

In the accident, Christine suffered a traumatic brain injury, an internal haemorrhage, and severe spinal injuries, leaving doctors uncertain if she’d ever walk again. But after a gruelling six-hour spine surgery and months of recovery, she’s proving all the odds wrong. Despite enduring constant pain, Christine has set a goal to complete the half marathon as a thank you to the air ambulance service that rushed her to safety and provided life-saving care.

Christine’s training for the marathon has had its own challenges. A shin splint recently set her back, but with her triplet brother Edward by her side and her dog Penny keeping pace, she’s making remarkable progress. The charity aims to raise £13 million annually to keep their helicopters flying, and Christine is determined to contribute to their mission.
“I’m extremely nervous about the half marathon, but the thought of achieving this goal and supporting the charity that saved my life keeps me going,” Christine shares. Her strength and gratitude are truly inspiring, making her a beacon of hope for many.
If you’d like to support Christine’s remarkable journey and the amazing work of the Wales Air Ambulance, consider donating to her fundraising efforts. Every contribution helps them continue their lifesaving missions across Wales.
Christine’s race not only honours the air ambulance’s 25th anniversary but also celebrates her own monumental recovery – a story of true grit and gratitude. Let’s cheer Christine on as she trains to turn her pain into purpose! 🏃♀️❤️✈️
