Tragic news unfolds on the M1 as a devastating crash claims the lives of two teenagers. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon, April 10, near junction 20 in Leicestershire. A blue car reportedly left the road bridge over the motorway and collided with a minibus travelling southbound.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but tragically, the two young occupants of the car were declared dead on-site. The collision also involved a white Fiat Ducato minibus, carrying four passengers who were taken to hospital. Thankfully, the injuries sustained were not life-threatening. Three women remain hospitalised, while the driver has been discharged.
The motorway was closed for several hours as forensic teams worked diligently to understand the circumstances leading up to this heart-wrenching event. Police are appealing to anyone who was on Gilmorton Lane or the M1 near the scene around 1.30pm to step forward.
