🎤 TV Legend Steve Rider Bids Farewell 🎤

After nearly 50 years as the face of British sports broadcasting, the iconic Steve Rider has quietly slipped away from our screens. Known for his work on BBC’s Grandstand and a wide range of other sports programmes, Steve brought his unique charm to rugby, golf, motorsports, and more.

Last year, Steve wrapped up his illustrious career at ITV, where he had been the voice behind the British Touring Car Championship for 16 years. In his own words, he wanted a low-key exit, joking, “For God’s sake, don’t c**k it up in the last two minutes!”
Yet this quiet farewell followed a personal battle. Steve took a step back from broadcasting after revealing he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thanks to early detection and swift surgery, Steve has been given a second chance at life—and he’s using it to advocate for prostate cancer awareness.
“Get yourself tested,” Steve urges, sharing his experience of early intervention and encouraging others to take control of their health. His proactive approach was spurred by a friend’s diagnosis, and he didn’t hesitate when tests showed something was off.
Steve’s journey is a reminder of the importance of early detection and the impact it can have. Let’s take Steve’s advice: stay proactive about health checks and take action if something feels amiss. Early detection can make all the difference!
Join us in wishing Steve all the best for his future endeavours and thanking him for the unforgettable sports moments he’s shared with us over the decades. 🙌💪
