The fire started around 9:50pm on April 13th. With around 50 firefighters and 18 appliances on site, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are working hard to contain the flames at what’s left of the Westholme building on Eday Road. Thankfully, as confirmed by the NHS Grampian, no patients or staff were inside the building, and there are no reported casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson shared, “Crews continue to tackle the fire within the former nursing accommodation, now used as office space at the Woodend Hospital site.” With fire contained to parts of the first and ground floors, the operation is ongoing and expected to continue for several hours.

Police Scotland advises the public to steer clear of the area to allow emergency services to do their work safely. If you’re around the vicinity and notice smoke, remember to keep windows and doors closed for your safety.
