Sara Richards, 35, landed herself in hot water for breeding Dalmatians without a licence and charging up to £2,500 per pup! Despite warnings from the council and the RSPCA, she carried on with her unauthorised puppy business.

Richards, unemployed but owning 15 Dalmatians, bred a whopping 88 puppies between 2021 and 2025. When council officers visited her Aberdare home, they found two litters with 11 adult dogs and 23 puppies. Advertisements for these adorable pups were plastered online, with prices ranging from £950 to £2,500 each.

Even after trying to apply for a breeding licence, authorities found her property unfit due to its condition. Despite being summoned for interviews three times, she never showed up.

In court, Richards admitted to three charges under the Animal Welfare Act. Remarkably, she has no previous convictions. Her defence highlighted her dedication to her dogs, who are reportedly well cared for and have even won events at Crufts.

Due to health issues, including a rare form of arthritis, she relies on her father’s financial support. The judge, acknowledging her situation, fined her £250 for continuing to breed without a licence.
