If you own a tumble dryer, read on! Around 85,000 households across the UK will receive a visit from their tumble dryer manufacturer due to serious fire safety concerns. A manufacturing fault has been discovered, which could lead to these appliances catching fire.
In 2025, an urgent safety notice was issued for certain models by Haier, which are also sold under the Baumatic, Candy, Caple, Vacuum, Iberna, Lamona, and Montpellier brands. Now, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has announced a plan to get these devices fixed.
What’s happening?
🏠 Manufacturers are set to visit each affected home to ensure tumble dryers are safe.
🔧 A modification programme has been put in place to address the issue.
🔥 The risk? An internal short circuit could ignite your tumble dryer during normal use.
