Discover the incredible story behind Jacqui Newton and Leah Middleton, two Aussie stars lighting up Welsh netball! 🇦🇺🇬🇧 From rivals to a powerhouse partnership, these two have a history stretching back to their uni days down under.
🏅 Jacqui and Leah crossed paths back in 2015 at the UniSport tournament. Fast forward eight years, and they’re the backbone of the Dragons’ defence, pushing the team to new heights this season!
Their secret? A friendship that’s more like family. “Jacqui knows all my secrets,” laughs Leah. And Jacqui? Well, she’s Leah’s go-to when homesickness hits. With chemistry on and off the court, these mates are transforming their combined strength into victories!
📈 Right now, the Dragons are embracing their play-off dreams. Scoring crucial points, they’re just three shy of a top-four finish—a feat that’s been eluding them since 2013!
But it’s not just about league success. Leah’s also eyeing the Commonwealth Games, where Wales will face tough opponents. She’s confident that their Super League triumphs will inspire international victories too.
✨ Mark your calendars: The Dragons are taking their talent north! On 9 May, they’ll face NIC Leeds Rhinos in Liverpool—a perfect chance for fans from North Wales to see their heroes in action.
Leah’s buzzing: “We’re thrilled to connect with our Northern fans. They deserve a local team to rally behind!” And Jacqui is all about representing the whole country: “We don’t want to be boxed into one city. We’re Team Wales!”
