Munster Rugby finds itself in the spotlight after appointing former All Black Roger Randle as their new attack coach. The decision sparked controversy as historic allegations against Randle have resurfaced. These claims date back to 1997 during a tour in South Africa with the Hurricanes, although the case was dropped back then and Randle maintains his innocence.

Randle’s unveiling has led to a shake-up within the Munster Professional Game Board, with three members – ex-players Billy Holland, Mick O’Driscoll, and Killian Keane – stepping down in protest. They reportedly disagreed with the process used to hire Randle as Mike Prendergast’s successor.

Despite the backlash, Munster remains steadfast in their choice, stating they conducted thorough checks during the hiring process and stand by the appointment. The Irish Rugby Football Union, meanwhile, has distanced itself from the situation, noting that the selection of assistant coaches is typically handled at the provincial level.

Randle, who previously collaborated with Clayton McMillan at the Chiefs, is poised to bring his coaching expertise to Munster, but it’s clear his new role isn’t without its challenges. What do you think about Munster’s decision? Share your thoughts!
