Exciting news for Bridgend! 🚧🎉 There’s a new retail park in the pipeline featuring M&S, Aldi, and Costa right off the A473 Waterton Road. Plans are still in the early stages, but the developers are keen to hear from the community during the public consultation period. If given the green light, this development, set in Parc Afon Ewenni, could bring around 130 new jobs and a fresh commercial vibe to the area.
The project proposes a new M&S food store, an Aldi supermarket, a drive-through Costa, and a Wendy’s restaurant. Situated within the Waterton Industrial Estate, this retail haven aims to be easily accessible for shoppers by car, foot, or bike, complete with 310 parking spaces!
There’s currently a mix of businesses and vacant land, but we could soon see a transformation that benefits the entire community. This move means an M&S Simply Food will target Bridgend, Vale, and Porthcawl areas, while Aldi plans to shift operations from its town centre location. The development also opens doors for more drive-through options along Bridgend’s key routes.
Locals are invited to voice their opinions as the proposal goes through the consultation process. Once submitted, all eyes will be on the Bridgend County Borough Council for the final decision.
