🎧📢 Cardiff DJ Kervin Julien just turned the music down on a major court showdown! Despite a rocky ride with noise complaints from his neighbours, Julien’s heartfelt speech won him a victory against the city’s council, who wanted to pull the plug on his sound equipment.
You might remember Julien from Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire, where he touched many lives working as a charity worker in Coventry and even tried to transform his home into a rehab centre. Fast forward to today, Kervin’s been grooving and advocating in Cardiff, playing gospel tunes on Radio Cardiff and standing up for justice.
Things got a bit too loud when Julien was hit with a noise abatement notice last year and fell into troubled times. He candidly shared in court that music was his lifeline during personal struggles, including grieving his mother, dealing with a divorce, job loss, and a cancer diagnosis. Life was overwhelming, and the volume went up too high.
Julien told the court he’s a changed man now. He’s promised to be a better neighbour and even plans to use headphones indoors! Though fined £300, with additional costs, his gear remains intact, meaning he’ll still be able to DJ and earn a living.
The case highlighted Kervin’s compassion and resilience, reminding us all of the power of second chances and the healing force of music. 🙌💪
