Exciting plans for a national memorial to honour Queen Elizabeth II have been revealed! To mark what would be her 100th birthday, a stunning permanent memorial in London is set to feature statues of the Queen and Prince Philip. One of its highlights is a beautiful bronze statue of Her Majesty, inspired by her early reign and Order of the Garter robes. The statue will overlook The Mall, close to Buckingham Palace, alongside a sculpture of Prince Philip in his Admiral-of-the-Fleet uniform.

For those in Wales, models and details of this grand tribute will be on display at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. The memorial will include gardens dedicated to the Commonwealth and UK nations and a cast-glass bridge inspired by Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara. A bust of the Queen in her later years and an abstract “Commonwealth Wind Sculpture” add further grandeur.

The Queen Elizabeth Trust, launched alongside this project, aims to rejuvenate community spaces across the UK, bolstered by a government endowment of £40m. An impressive digital memorial will also launch, creating a living archive of the Queen’s public life, allowing people worldwide to share cherished memories and images.
Notable figures like Tom Daley and Dame Tracey Emin have already contributed their thoughts, ensuring the memorial resonates globally. Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasised the Queen’s devotion to public service, celebrating her exceptional reign and inspiring future generations.
This initiative isn’t just a marker of history; it’s a living project to engage and inspire. Share your own memories of Queen Elizabeth and be part of this incredible homage! 💐👑
