🚨 Heads up, parents! 🚨 If you’re in the rush to secure up to £2,000 per child through the Tax-Free Childcare scheme, there’s a new wave of scams to be aware of. Scammers are taking advantage of the chaos around the April tax deadlines, and many families are at risk of being caught out.

According to HMRC, they’ve received a staggering 135,500 scam reports in just 10 months, including 29,000 bogus tax refund claims! Criminals are crafting convincing phishing attempts, pretending to be from HMRC and targeting families anxious about missing out on childcare support. 😱

Lucy Pike from HMRC advises: always stay skeptical. If you get suspicious emails, texts, or calls, don’t click any links! Report them and protect your details. Remember, HMRC will never ask for personal or bank info via email or text, nor will they demand money transfers or threaten you. Always verify directly via gov.uk to be safe.
The scheme is crucial for many, with 542,700 families benefiting in December 2025 alone! Parents pay £8, and the government adds £2, up to £2,000 a year. But this lifeline also makes them prime scam targets.
With tax time stress and camping deadlines, scammers use urgency and fear to their advantage—don’t let them catch you off guard! Verify any suspicious messages and forward dodgy emails to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk or text messages to 60599. Taking just a moment could save you from losing thousands!
