Corey Goldup from Trebanos, a 28-year-old with a disturbing history, narrowly avoided a prison sentence due to a recent change in the law. At Swansea Crown Court, he received a two-year and four-month jail term, suspended for three years. If this case had come to court just a month earlier, Goldup would be facing significant time behind bars.

Here’s what went down: Corey’s devices were found brimming with nearly 2,000 child abuse images and videos, courtesy of specialist software he installed on his phone. His sickening activities included secretly recording young girls and being part of an online group chat titled “12 and under jailbait,” where such content was shared.

During the court hearing, it was revealed that police discovered his offences in 2022 but his insidious actions continued even after his arrest. His defence argued he needed help rather than prison, citing his admission of “disgust” over his behaviour and a desire to change. However, the judge made it clear that Corey’s continued offences were deeply concerning.

His sentence also includes completing a rehabilitation course, 200 hours of unpaid community work, and being on the sex offender’s registry for 10 years. He’s under a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.
