🔔 Shocking Court Case: Teen Speaks Out Against Attacker

A 16-year-old girl’s world was turned upside down after a night out took a horrific turn. Under the influence of MDMA and alcohol, she fell asleep only to awaken to a nightmare—34-year-old Kieran Olden was sexually assaulting her. This traumatic incident left her feeling confused and withdrawn, taking her over a year to gather the courage to tell her mum.

After a trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, Olden, from Aberdare, was found guilty of the assault by penetration. Despite his pleas, the jury saw through his denials, and he now faces a seven-year prison sentence. Olden was also found guilty of additional offences, including two counts of common assault.
In a heart-wrenching statement read to the court, the brave young victim shared how the assault had deeply affected her life: “Ever since the incident, I’ve struggled with anxiety, stopped going out, and have been unable to wear certain clothes or feel safe alone.”
Olden’s defence stated the impact on his family, but the court focused on the trauma endured by the victim. With a lifetime requirement to register as a sex offender and a long prison sentence, this case serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of listening to survivors and holding abusers accountable.
