Sad news for Claire’s fans out there! The beloved accessories chain has shuttered all its 154 UK and Ireland branches, and that means around 1,300 staff are facing redundancy. While their concessions in places like Asda and their head office are still up and running, this closure is a huge change for the high street.

Founded in the US and popular in the UK since 1996, Claire’s has been known for its trendy jewellery, fab accessories, and ear-piercing services. Unfortunately, they’ve struggled to compete with budget-friendly online shops recently.

So what does this mean for your Claire’s gift cards and orders? If you’ve got a gift card or are waiting on an order, here’s what you need to know. Consumer expert Kat Cereda warns that it might be tough getting a refund as customers often find themselves at the back of the queue when a store goes into administration.
If you’ve paid over £100 on a credit card for something that’s faulty or hasn’t arrived, you might be able to claim under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. For purchases under £100 with a credit or debit card, look into chargeback options. Failing that, you could try making a claim with Claire’s administrators, but be warned, it might take a while.
Let’s hope things work out for the wonderful staff and loyal customers during this difficult time. Keep your eyes peeled for any new info if you’ve got a stake in the game! 💔 #Claires #HighStreetChanges #ShopSmart
