Meet Erica’s incredible twins, Ariah-Grace and Rylah-Faye, who have bravely joined the fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type one. This rare muscle disease, shared with the children of former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson, presents immense challenges, but their spirit is undeterred.

From the moment Erica and Jordan brought their twins home to Port Talbot, they knew something was off. At just six weeks old, signs began to show, with their little legs mysteriously still during immunisations and their muscles feeling inexplicably floppy. By 12 weeks, alarming concerns were voiced as milestones slipped by, and at 16 weeks, Ariah’s battle with bronchiolitis and RSV highlighted just how vulnerable the sisters were.

Despite initial setbacks and feeling unheard by healthcare professionals, Erica’s instincts never wavered—finally leading to a diagnosis that was both devastating and clarifying. Ariah-Grace and Rylah-Faye are now under the compassionate care of the team at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital, where they’ve found hope and a community that understands their journey.
These resilient seven-month-olds are now candidates for life-changing gene therapy in Bristol, aiming to tackle SMA at its genetic roots. As they prepare to undergo this groundbreaking treatment, followed by a period of isolation, the family remains hopeful.
Erica’s message to all parents is powerful: “Trust your gut and be the voice for your child when they can’t speak for themselves.” They’re determined to raise awareness about SMA and support other families who find themselves on a similar path, ensuring no one feels isolated or unheard like they once did.
This story of hope and determination is a reminder of the strength found within families and communities. Let’s help spread the word about SMA and support those touched by this challenging journey. ❤️
