🚨 Scandal at Stockton School: Assistant Headteacher Banned for Concealed Relationship 🚨

In a shocking revelation, Harriet Brown, a senior safeguarding lead at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, has been banned from teaching indefinitely. Brown, entrusted with the safety and welfare of students, secretly maintained a relationship with a convicted paedophile for three years, despite his incarceration at HMP Northumberland.

Brown, who was part of the school’s safeguarding team and also a special educational needs coordinator, regularly visited and called the offender. She had initially claimed to have ended the relationship after her partner was arrested and charged with sexual offences against a child under 13. However, evidence showed that contact resumed and was maintained while he served his sentence.

This clandestine relationship came to light during a routine probation check, eventually leading to her suspension and subsequent dismissal from the school. The Teaching Regulation Agency held a hearing in February, concluding that her actions constituted a severe breach of trust. As a result, Brown has been struck off the teaching register and will not be eligible to seek a review until 2029.
The school and the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust have expressed their support for the ruling, emphasising their commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding, saying, “Safeguarding is taken extremely seriously across our trust.”
The decision draws attention to the critical importance of transparency and integrity in educational environments, especially from those in pivotal safeguarding roles. Brown’s case serves as a stark reminder that the safety of children must always come first. 📚🚫
