Welsh rugby fans, hold onto your seats! As the 2026/27 season approaches, our four regions are making some bold moves, despite the Welsh Rugby Union’s plans to potentially cut down the regions to three.

First up, Cardiff is focusing on keeping its top talents. They’re retaining ten key players, including big names like Josh Adams and Callum Sheedy. While they’ve said goodbye to Ben Donnell, who’s off to Ulster, their squad looks solid.

The Dragons are shaking things up the most, welcoming three new players, including Tongan wing Anzelo Tuitavuki and the promising Caio Parry. However, they’re losing powerhouse Aaron Wainwright to Leicester Tigers. A huge loss, but new challenges await!

Over at the Ospreys, they’ve snagged Wales wing Tom Rogers from the Scarlets—a massive win! But, it’s not all sunshine, as they’re waving goodbye to Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake, both heading to Gloucester, alongside others heading overseas.
The Scarlets, while not signing any newbies yet, have successfully retained Fletcher Anderson, a standout in the URC, and kept captain Josh Macleod onboard. However, they’re parting ways with Marnus van der Merwe, heading to Munster.
It’s clear that with 26 players signing new deals across the board, retention is the flavour of the season. But with some significant exits, there’s a shifting landscape in Welsh rugby. Who’s most excited about these changes? Let us know in the comments below! 🏉💼
