This dramatic CCTV footage shows Slade violently resisting arrest over an alleged sexual offence. A female officer was left grounded by his kicks, while a male officer endured a headbutt, leaving him with bruises and a swollen lip. Throughout the brutal ordeal, Slade hurled insults at the officers and later justified his actions, insisting it was just another day at work for them.

The courtroom, captivated by the violence on display, heard that Slade, sporting a dressing gown and football socks during the attack, had led a life previously unmarred by crime. Yet following the assaults, he faced further charges for distributing intimate images with malicious intent.

In court, Slade, now remorseful, expressed regret over his ‘dark period’, which followed a painful personal breakup. His defence highlighted this as a turning point, hoping for leniency.

Sentencing him to nine weeks imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, Recorder Andrew Hammond reminded everyone that police officers aren’t targets, but people with families who deserve peace and safety when doing their challenging jobs. Slade also received a financial penalty, paying compensation to the injured officers.

This intense case has sparked conversations about respect and safety for emergency service workers who risk their safety every day to keep the community secure.
