A chicken dinner gone wrong for this Cardiff crook! 🐔🔍

Shane Sweeney, 28, thought he’d get away with burglarising a student flat. But his appetite landed him in hot water when his DNA was found on a chicken bone left at the crime scene! 📚💻

The burglary happened between January 24 and 25 while the student was out working. She returned to find her home ransacked, with her 65-inch TV, two laptops, jewellery, a gold bar and even her car keys missing. 🚗💔
Though Sweeney insisted he “didn’t like chicken” and couldn’t have been responsible, the evidence told a different story. The pilfered car, a Vauxhall Corsa, was later abandoned in Trowbridge. 🕵️♀️
Adding to his criminal CV, Sweeney also admitted to seven shoplifting sprees, targeting stores like Spar and Sainsbury’s from November to March, lifting goods worth £686. This included everything from cans of Coke to Lindt Easter eggs! 🍫🛒
The court heard his life had spiralled following a bike accident at 18, leading to addiction. Despite his plea of being misled by friends, Sweeney now faces 24 months behind bars. He hopes to rebuild his life and mend ties with his three children. 🚴♂️💔
Stay alert and keep those chicken bones in check, folks! 🍗 Stay safe and savvy out there. 🌟
