A shocking case of sexual assault has recently been in the spotlight. Mark White, 50, from St Athan, has been sentenced to prison for raping a woman after ignoring her pleas to stop due to pain. Following the attack, White apologised via text, claiming he “couldn’t control himself”. The victim bravely addressed the court, sharing the devastating emotional and physical harm she suffered. Despite White’s tears and claims of excitement, the impact on the victim was severe and lasting, leaving her feeling anxious, isolated, and struggling with sleep.

In court, White’s defence referred to his actions as a “loss of control”, but this offered little comfort to the victim, who now fears he could reoffend. White, previously of good character, received a 39-month prison sentence, a 15-year restraining order, and indefinite inclusion on the sex offender register.

This case underscores the importance of listening to and believing victims, as well as ensuring justice is served. If you or someone you know is affected by similar issues, support is available.
