🎉 Exciting times ahead for Cardiff Rugby! They’ve just revealed their senior academy squad for the 2026-27 season, and there’s some serious talent in the mix. With 24 players signed on and a strong emphasis on nurturing homegrown stars, the future is looking bright at Arms Park. 🌟
This ambitious academy plan forms a crucial part of Cardiff’s long-term strategy, with about 60% of the current first-team having progressed through their development pathway. It’s clear Cardiff is not just about the present; they’re investing in the future of Welsh rugby. 🏉
Among the standout names is hooker Tom Howe, tipped by many as a future Wales international. Earlier this year, his Rugby director described him as an “outstanding” talent with the potential to achieve anything he sets his mind to. Here’s hoping we’ll see him in a red senior jersey soon! 🔴
The squad also boasts promising players like second-row Tom Cottle, back-row Evan Rees, versatile Matty Young, and centres Elijah Evans and Osian Darwin-Lewis—all of whom have already tasted senior rugby.
Academy manager Gruff Rees expresses pride in the new intake, stating that it reflects the strength and hard work within the region. With these young players coming through, backed by the club’s experts and local partners, Cardiff Rugby is in great hands.
There’s also more talent bubbling at the juvenile level, signalling further depth and competition. Keep an eye on these rising stars—they’re ready to shine! 👀✨
