Intervention by Victim’s Children Prevents Potentially Deadly Outcome of Violent Assault

A scary incident in the early hours of March 22 turned into a tale of survival and bravery when Dean Durham, 42, was stopped by his partner’s children after allegedly strangling her not once, but twice. The turmoil unfolded in Llanharan and could have been even more tragic if not for the quick actions of the children.

Durham, reportedly under the influence of five cans of Strongbow, was found with his hands around his partner’s throat. When confronted by police, he seemed bewildered and chalked it up to drunkenness. This was not an isolated incident; the victim revealed a similar attack at Court Colman Manor in 2024, where he accused her of various things before pinning her down and causing her to lose consciousness. She suffered bruising to her neck as a result.
