⛳️🐍 Surprise on the Fairway! Celtic Manor’s greenkeeper, Larry Wilkie, had quite the encounter when he stumbled upon a slithery visitor while managing the course. 🌿
Larry, who’s been lovingly caring for the greens for two years, couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted a snake basking near the 13th hole, close to a lake. Initially startled, thinking it might be an adder, Larry soon realised it was just a harmless grass snake. 📷 He’s even got a video to prove it and plans to share it with friends and family!
Grass snakes are pretty rare, often seen around water but their numbers are declining due to habitat loss. To spot one out in the wild, especially on a golf course, is a real treat! 🌍
Here’s hoping for more unexpected wildlife encounters on the course, though maybe less startling ones for Larry! Have you ever had a surprise encounter with wildlife? Share your stories below! 🐦🐰
