A letting agent in Cardiff, Isaac Izar, got caught in a shocking scandal involving an organised crime gang using a property he managed to grow cannabis. Despite making over £200,000 from this illegal venture, he’s only been asked to pay back £42,000.

The illicit cannabis farm was housed at 319 Newport Road, spreading over three floors with a staggering 572 plants. The factory’s exposure came after the tragic murder of Tomasz Waga. He tried to steal cannabis worth £120,000 but was brutally attacked and later found dead.

Following the murder, three men, part of the crime group, fled to Albania but were brought back to the UK for justice. Two members, Josif Nushi and Mihal Dhana, received life sentences for murder, while Hysland Aliaj was jailed for manslaughter.
Though Izar wasn’t involved in the attack itself, Cardiff Crown Court revealed he knowingly allowed his property to be used for such activities. This decision unwittingly set off the deadly chain of events leading to Waga’s death. Izar admitted to permitting the cannabis production, resulting in a 21-month suspended sentence, paired with 250 hours of unpaid work.
A court hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act spotlighted Izar’s substantial illegal gains, but his assets only amounted to £42,218. The judge demanded he pay this sum within three months or risk additional imprisonment.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangerous consequences of turning a blind eye to crime. 💰🚔 #CardiffCrime #CannabisFarm #LegalConsequences
