The MV Hondius, a Dutch-registered liner, saw Martin and two others evacuated by medical flight to a Cape Verde hospital. Meanwhile, two more individuals who returned independently to the UK have been instructed to self-isolate. The UK Health Security Agency reassures: “The risk to the general public remains very low.” ✈️

The World Health Organisation has confirmed five hantavirus cases, with the latest involving passengers evacuated today. Prior reports noted three confirmed cases and five under suspicion, sadly leading to three fatalities. Yet, as of now, there are eight acknowledged cases. 🦠

Spanish Health Minister Monica Garcia says all passengers still aboard show no symptoms. As the ship sails toward the Canary Islands, everyone on it will go through health screenings before heading home, symptom-free. The ship is expected to dock within 72 to 96 hours. ⛴️

Officials aim for a controlled disembarkation process—directly transferring passengers from port to airport to minimise public exposure. Stay tuned for more updates and stay safe! 📢
