🗳️ It’s Election Day in Wales! The polls are officially open from 7am until 10pm, and it’s time to make your voice heard in the 2026 Senedd Election. This election is bringing in some major changes with 96 seats up for grabs in the Welsh Parliament, thanks to a new voting system based on proportional representation.
Big names are already casting their votes: Plaid Leader Rhun ap Iorwerth and First Minister Eluned Morgan have been spotted at their local polling stations with family in tow. Whether you’re in Ceredigion Penfro or Bangor Conwy Mon, today is your chance to shape the future of Wales.
The changes don’t stop there; the constituencies have been reimagined, pairing the 32 Westminster constituencies into 16, each with a new Welsh language name. Don’t forget, this time you only have one vote and it’s for a party, not an individual.
What’s on the political menu? 🗒️ Labour’s promising new hospitals, Plaid Cymru is looking to expand free childcare, and the Greens are campaigning for a rent cap. Meanwhile, the Conservatives want to scrap the Welsh equivalent of stamp duty, and the Lib Dems are all about increasing income tax for social care.
Stay tuned for results! 🗓️ Counting kicks off on May 8th, so we’ll have a clearer picture soon. Got a furry friend in tow? We want to see your dogs at the polling stations, so share your snaps! Let’s make this a day of democracy—and doggos! 🐶🐾
If you haven’t yet, find your polling station and get involved. No ID needed, just bring yourself and prepare to be part of Wales’ exciting new chapter. 📍🏴 #SeneddElection2026 #VoteWales
