Motorists Label Road Sign as ‘Most Useless’ — Questioning Its Purpose

🚗👀 Drivers have been having a laugh about some of the “least helpful” road signs cluttering up the UK. One particular favourite? The infamous “road ahead closed” sign. Many drivers find it annoyingly vague—does it mean a closure soon, or miles down the road? With no clues given, you could end up on a wild goose chase if you choose to follow the diversion!

One driver shared their experience: “I usually just ignore those signs, hoping for the best. Most times, I don’t even see a closed road.” Another person chimed in, saying, “I ignored a ‘road closed’ sign once, and guess what? I got home without a hitch. The closure was miles further.”

But the fun didn’t stop there! Other road signs also took a roasting. One contender was the “new road layout ahead” sign—which might be new or might have been up so long the road’s changed again.

Then there’s the “signal priorities changed” sign. One user quipped about a sign that’s been hanging around since 2003, way past its supposed three-month life span. Guess nobody’s rushing to take it down!

Rounding out the list was the “falling rocks” sign. One cyclist joked, “Got so distracted by the sign, I ran over a rock and punctured my tyre!”

It’s safe to say some of these signs could use a bit of a refresh, but they sure make for a good laugh on the road. Have you encountered any other signs that made you scratch your head? 🤔 Share your stories in the comments!
